RICHMOND—Virginia Farm Bureau’s monthly television program will get a new name and new content in January. After a decade on the air, Down Home Virginia, will become Real Virginia and will feature a new chef and a vegetable gardening expert.
Todd Schneider, executive chef at Virginia’s Executive Mansion, will replace chef John Maxwell and will share recipes in a segment called “Heart of the Home.”
“I’ve always felt the kitchen is the heart of any home,” Schneider said. “My goal on this program will be to share easy-to-use recipes featuring Virginia products whenever possible.”
Andy Hankins, a longtime professor and Virginia Cooperative Extension alternative crops specialist at Virginia State University, will be featured in a new segment on vegetable gardening called “From the Ground Up.” Landscape gardening expert Mark Viette will continue to offer his tips in the “In the Garden” segment.
Veteran television host Sherri McKinney will continue to anchor the program, which is seen on 43 cable television systems, three broadcast stations and RFD-TV on the Dish Network and DirecTV satellite systems. It’s also available anytime on the Farm Bureau website at VaFarmBureau.org.
