Beef cattle and hay producer Gordon R. Metz Jr. of Martinsville was elected Dec. 1 to a ninth three-year term on the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors.
Elections of directors were held at the VFBF 2011 Annual Convention in Norfolk.
Metz chairs the VFBF Equine Advisory Committee and Membership Services Advisory Committee. As a member of the board of directors he represents Farm Bureau producer members in Alleghany, Bedford, Botetourt, Craig, Franklin, Henry, Patrick and Roanoke counties.
He is a past president of Henry County Farm Bureau and has served for more than 20 years on that organization’s board. He also is a past member of the VFBF Young Farmers Committee.
The Henry County native is on the advisory board for Patrick Henry Boys and Girls Plantation and is an active member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He is a former president of the Figsboro Ruritan Club and the Augusta Military Academy Alumni Association.
